Charles
Lago a native of Great Britain had a successful career in law
enforcement before settling in the United States in the early
nineties.
In
1993 Charles founded the live performance venue Between The
Pages Playhouse in Palm Springs, CA.
He quickly made his stamp by producing the avante garde,
namely well known performance artists as well the up and coming
playwrights out of Los Angeles and across the United States.
In
1994 Charles began working as the manager and producer for
Quentin Crisp, the critically acclaimed author and raconteur who
took London’s West End by storm with his one-man show, An
Evening with Quentin Crisp. After
Quentin moved to the United States, Charles then helped revise
and launch the show for a national tour of the U.S., again to
critical acclaim.
Around this time, Charles also became the manager for
performance artist Annie Sprinkle.
Bringing her to the forefront as one of the US’s more
prominent live performance artists with her show, Annie
Sprinkle: Herstory of Porn.
Charles
eventually sold Between The Pages Playhouse and moved to
San Diego, CA to continue his producing career.
In 1998 the San Diego Union Tribune named Charles,
"The most prolific theater producer in San Diego.”
While
working in theater, Charles, who always had a business interest
in books and authors, started organizing author book tours
around the country on behalf of publishers. He has worked with
many well-known authors organizing successful book tours, book
signing's and lectures.
During
this time Charles continued to organize book tours for
individual authors and publishers. In 2002 Charles founded Authors
On Tour, a full service author pr company.
He personally organized events for authors such as
Arianna Huffington, former Presidential Speech-Writer David Frum, Mariel
Hemmingway, Heidi Fliess, and Susan McDougal.
Other authors quickly followed and within a few months,
Charles was representing up to six authors at a time.
In
2003 Charles founded the Palm Springs Book Festival and to this
day continues to be the principle organizer of this ever-growing
successful event.
Authors
on Tour continued to grow
working with authors, entertainers and corporate clients.
To better serve it’s clients, Authors on Tour was
renamed Polimedia Entertainment.
Branching
out to now work with film and production companies to
promote documentaries and films with a eco/politico/socio
message as well as continuing to work with authors and
entertainers alike.

Keith
Sky

Keith
Sky, an established industry executive, began his career in the
motion picture industry with positions in distribution and
marketing at Columbia Pictures, Paramount Pictures and Walt
Disney Co, After leaving
the studio system he founded the public relations and marketing
firm, Americom. Americom
has designed and executed campaigns for over 200 major companies
in an assortment of categories.
These have included clients in film,
television, cable, radio, live theatre and numerous
filmmakers, production companies and artists.
He has also represented numerous corporate clients in the world
of telecommunications and satellite broadcasting, Besides his
experience in film distribution, his experience in film
exhibition has had lasting effect on movie goers. He was
an innovator in the field of music video. He helped to establish
VH-1 and represented numerous video companies as part of the MTV
explosion. Many of those music video directors went on to
feature film success.
Recently Keith Sky also produced “I Am A Backyard
Wrestler” for MTV and their TrueLife series marking a 20 year
relationship with the network.
He helped to launch the first satellite distribution network
with over 800 US television stations for the distribution of
commercials and programming. The company, Cycle Sat, became part
of the Williams Communications Group, a leader in
telecommunications. He
also represented Pacific Bell and AT&T and their
entertainment departments.
As a media personality, Keith Sky has had a weekly entertainment
report with KROQ-FM (Los Angeles), and an entertainment show on
Groove Radio 103.1 Los Angeles).
When working with Regent Entertainment Sky became
actively involved in marketing, distribution and acquisition of
product for the company. From 2000 to 2005, Sky handled an
array of theatrical films including the very popular “Speedway
Junkie”, “6th Happiness”, “Friends and
Family” “Looking
for an Echo” and “Free Enterprise”.
Many of these titles currently play on pay-TV channels.
One of the releases, “Sordid Lives” starring Olivia
Newton John was one of the hit independent films enjoying among
among other accolades, a one year run at the Camelot Theatres in
Palm Springs, Ca.
In 2004, he Co-Produced with Harry Thomason, The Hunting of
the President: the 10 Year Campaign to Destroy the Clintons.
The film played in 80 cities and currently is out on Fox
DVD. His marketing company handled the coordination of the media
in the United States for the film’s release. The highlights of
the launch of the film included co-hosting a Q & A with
former Vice-President Al Gore at the film’s festival premiere
in Sundance. For the theatrical premiere in New York, the film
event was honored to have President Clinton attend and introduce
the film.
He is currently developing other projects including “Fountain
of Youth”, the story about the murder of Ramon Navarro, a
famous Hollywood movie star.
He is also developing a bio-pic, “FLIP”,
based on the life of Flip Wilson, the Afro-American
comedian. He also
has worked with Susan McDougal to bring her life story to the
screen based on her best selling biography “The Woman Who
Wouldn’t Talk”. He
also is co-producer on the upcoming Warner Bros. feature film,
“Rodney on the ROQ”. He
is developing the project with Mad Chance Productions, currently
filming “Get Smart: The Movie!”
At a time when Keith Sky continues to develop his own film
productions, he wants to support fellow filmmakers.
He feels with films such as The Hunting of the
President and An Inconvenient Truth there is evidence
of a new genre of films which deal with the social, political
and environmental issues of the day.
Keith Sky is committed to providing filmmakers a way to
be seen and heard.
A firm believer in providing young filmmakers their
start, Keith Sky organized the Dean Film Grant for documentary
filmmakers. Underwritten
by Fuji Film, one of the projects the grant supported, the
political documentary, The Panama Deception went on to
win the Academy Award. Sky
was an early supporter of American Cinemateque, the Independent
Film Project (IFP), Outfest and the Miami Beach Cinemateque.
Keith Sky has also helped salvage two movie palaces in
Hollywood. The Vista Theatre, which was originally built by Sid
Grauman and the art-deco Regent
Showcase Theatre in West Hollywood.
Today, both of these first-run theatres are very
successful. Keith
Sky is proud to say he was part of their revival. Once
again, in 2007, Keith Sky worked to stop the demolition of a
famous Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami Beach. So far, it remains
open through their efforts and the campaign! |
